Anja Barešić

Anja Barešić received her PhD in bioinformatics from University College London, UK and now leads the Laboratory for Computational Biology and Translational Medicine at the Ruđer Bošković Institute. Her research focuses on various aspects of computational biology, advanced statistics and the application of machine learning in so-called “-omics” research, with an emphasis on projects with high translational potential to clinical practice. Since 2023, she has been the coordinator of the European Digital Innovation Hub “AI for smart health and medicine”. This private-public partnership of 16 institutions accelerates the digital transformation of the Croatian and European healthcare systems through the introduction of innovative technologies based on AI and high-performance computing. Through the project, several dozen small and medium-sized enterprises and public sector organizations received assistance in personalized digital transformation planning with 100% co-financing from the project
